The Parish Council consists of Councillors elected directly by the members of the Parish. These Councillors meet monthly to conduct the business of the Parish which is always pursued with the benefit of the Parishioners, and the well-being of the Parish, in mind. The Councillors are a direct link between the Parishioners, the District Council, and similar bodies (Gas, Water, Telephone, Electricity, etc.). Indeed a lot of the work of the Parish Council is to ensure that organisations such as these promptly fulfil their responsibilities to the Parish in such matters as the maintenance of the surfaces of roads and pavements, the maintenance of hedgerows, the disposal of rubbish and refuse, the maintenance of street lighting, etc.

The Parish Council receives a precept yearly from the District Council, from which it meets its expenses, and spends on Parish maintenance which is not the responsibility of other bodies, and from which it awards grants to worthy local organisations and causes.
